Selke (Best Defensive Forward) Empty
PostSubject: Selke (Best Defensive Forward)   Selke (Best Defensive Forward) EmptyThu Feb 05, 2009 3:28 pm

Season 1

1. Yeh (Nahual) - Winner

Yeh was a rock this year for the Boston Blazers, clogging up the passing lanes and blocking shots, along with his ability to back check. Yeh can not only score, with 12 points in 10 games, but is also considered to be the best defensive forward in the league. Yeh helped the Boston Blazers fight for a playoff spot up until the very end where they lost out by two points.

2. Nicto

Nicto played for the extremely defensive Long Island Fishsticks this year, posting good offensive numbers and playing great defensive hockey. Nicto was the corner stone, along with Nystrom to the Fishsticks success this season. He was able to score, and keep teams clogged in the neutral zone. Nicto is able to play offense and defense, but tends to play a mid type of game.

3rd. Gagne/Skates

Gagne was the best offensive player to be voted in as a selke candidate this season, but rightfully so, as the GMs of the league realise how defensive Gagne can be with his offensive game. Gagne is able to keep the puck for long periods of time, wasting valuable time when leading games. He is also a pest, never not after the puck is a good way to describe Gagne. Gagne helped his Sarnia Sting to the top record in the league this season.

Skates is the general managers of the Boston Blazers organization. He was able to build a strong team this year, but missed out on the playoffs by a small margin. One of the reasons that the Boston Blazers came so close to a playoff birth was Skates strong play in the D zone, along with his high scoring abilities. Skates is known for picking off passes and blocking shots with the best of the players in the league.

Season 2

1. Yeh - Winner
Naggy was one of the only bright spots for the Blazers this season. He played both mid and forward for the blazers. It was no coincidence that many of the blazers meltdowns coincided with naggy being on the bench.

2. Tim (Ovechkin)
Amongst his "ttgs" and offensive production tim played a key role defensively for the Fishsticks. As a duo with moss the two forwards were huge aids in helping their defensemen. Tim's ability to steal the puck with a single hit and perfect positioning made his defensemen's jobs much easier and was key in the Fishsticks league leading number of shutouts

3. Elias
Elias made his return to MKL with a bang. He did not put up the great offensive numbers some might have expected from him, but he was remarkable defensively for the Outlaws. Without any big name defensemen Elias was huge in aiding his defenders. Unsurprisingly, the outlaws worst loss of the season, 10-2 to Barrington, occured while Elias was not there.
